Jewell Instruments was selected as one of six finalists for the 2016 New Hampshire High Tech Council’s Product of the Year. This award recognizes and celebrates innovative products developed in New Hampshire over the past year.
On November 10, the nominated companies presented their products to hundreds of tech leaders who helped to determine the winner of the award.
Jewell Instruments presented its JMA-165 MEMS accelerometer for the Product of the Year. This is the industry’s first MEMS sensor to meet CENELEC/AREMA requirements for rail transportation. It is typically implemented into passenger train control systems in order to provide feedback on the performance of the train. This is a key component that helps trains operate with optimum efficiency and safety.
Since the sensor operates with MEMS technology, it presents engineers with a low-cost alternative to most traditional rail transportation sensors. It is also available with an optional built-in heater to reduce thermal drift within the sensor’s readings.
